It appears that the project at 1090 Nicola will be going to a public hearing on June 16th. Full details for the hearing are not yet available, but we believe that Council only needs to address the heritage designation of the existing house, as this application does not involve any change in zoning for the site. ACTION: West End residents may wish to indicate to Council that they strongly support the creation of new housing that (1) protects heritage resources, and (2) respects existing zoning for the site. WEN has described this application and contrasted it with more “dramatic” development applications here. More details below.

To designate the existing ‘B’ listed heritage building as protected heritage property.
Anyone who considers themselves affected by the proposed by-law amendments may speak at the Public Hearing. Please register individually before 5 pm, June 16, by calling 604.873.7269. You may also register in person at the door between 7 and 7:30 pm before the hearing.
