On Wednesday, the West End Mayor’s Advisory Committee (WEMAC) issued its report, dated Wednesday, July 20, 2011. The report is being distributed by the City Clerk by e-mail without the appendices in the more comprehensive version that included survey comments found here: WEMAC Interim Report with appendices (see text of WEMAC cover letter below). We encourage people to read that full report, including comments about the process, starting on Page 154. Links to media coverage on this report are also provided below. WEN reserves formal comment until it has a chance to review the contents. Note that “Mayor Robertson indicates that he will bring a motion forward to the next Council meeting, asking staff to report back on options for implementing the 23 recommendations.” Note also that WEMAC is considered a model project for the whole city.

Subject: West End Mayor’s Advisory Committee – Survey Results
The City of Vancouver City Clerk’s department is distributing this email and report on behalf of the West End Mayor’s Advisory Committee.
July 28, 2011
As members of the West End Mayor’s Advisory Committee (WEMAC), we wanted to offer you our thanks for completing the survey on priorities for West End residents.
The results of the survey, along with recommendations from WEMAC, are attached for your information.
Over 1,000 West Enders completed the survey, providing a broad look at the priorities that are important to our community. It was clear that there are many things that we all love about the West End and also things that concern us. To respond to these concerns, WEMAC made 23 recommendations on changes to city policy that would help ensure the West End continues to be a wonderful neighbourhood to live in.
Last week we presented the findings of the survey, along with our recommendations, to Mayor Gregor Robertson. We were very pleased to hear from Mayor Robertson that he will be bringing a motion forward to the next Council meeting, asking staff to report back on options for implementing the 23 recommendations.
WEMAC looks forward to the sharing of the report with members of the community. Please feel free to forward the report to others you think may be interested.
If you’d like more information about the survey or the recommendations, please let us know.
Thank you again!
