1128 Alberni – Carmana Plaza

January 10, 2011. Peterson Group proposed to convert 96 residential rental units to a hotel. It has been operating 12 floors as a hotel for several years.  The Development Permit Board denied the request. In spite of this decision, the owners are continuing to operate as a hotel.

While the Peterson Group has applied to take 96 rental units OFF the market, it has also been seeking (with Westbank Corp.) millions of dollars in incentives from the City to build 193 rental units under the STIR program at 1401 Comox.

This planning department report recommending approval is here. See the Notification Letter and  City Development Services for more information.
